Welcome to Empower-Wellbeing Collective CIC

A community-focused social enterprise committed to improving health, wellbeing, and resilience across Wakefield and surrounding communities.

Founded by Jane Eastwood, Queen’s Nurse, Advanced Clinical Practitioner, Independent Prescriber, Diabetes Nurse Specialist and women’s health clinician, the Collective was created from a simple belief: when people understand their health, they feel stronger, more confident, and better able to thrive in their families, workplaces, and communities.

Jane brings over 24 years of nursing experience across primary care, diabetes, and advanced clinical practice. She is currently training as a British Menopause Society (BMS) Specialist, further strengthening the Collective’s commitment to high-quality, evidence-based menopause and midlife care. Her work is grounded in NICE guidance, preventative health principles, and a deep passion for reducing health inequalities through education and early intervention.

Working alongside Jane is Dr Saira Bano, an accredited, highly experienced GP, GP Trainer, and Obesity Specialist. Dr Bano brings extensive expertise in complex primary care, lifestyle medicine, and weight management, alongside a strong commitment to mentoring the next generation of clinicians. Together, Jane and Dr Bano combine clinical credibility with a shared vision for accessible, community-based wellbeing support.

Our approach is different.

Rather than expecting individuals to navigate complex systems alone, we take trusted, evidence-based health education into community spaces — workplaces, cafés, community centres, and local organisations — creating safe, welcoming environments where open conversations can take place without stigma.

We specialise in women’s health, menopause education, diabetes awareness, healthy weight support, lifestyle wellbeing, and preventative community programmes. However, we also recognise that health is influenced by confidence, social connection, physical activity, and belonging. By addressing wellbeing holistically, we support not just individuals, but the wider community ecosystem.

Through workshops, group programmes, workplace training, and collaborative initiatives, Empower-Wellbeing Collective CIC aims to:

  • Improve health literacy and early help-seeking
  • Reduce health inequalities in underserved areas
  • Support workplace wellbeing and productivity
  • Promote healthy weight and metabolic health
  • Strengthen community resilience and peer support

Our programmes are practical, compassionate, and grounded in real-world primary care experience. We bridge the gap between clinical guidance and everyday life, helping people translate knowledge into action.

At our core, we believe wellbeing is not a luxury — it is foundational. When people feel informed, supported, and connected, they are more likely to engage with their health, remain in employment, support their families, and contribute positively to it is foundational.

Madeleine France

Madeleine France is the Founder and Co-Director of Blossom Training and Development CIC, an award-winning community organisation committed to creating safer, stronger communities through education, empowerment, and early intervention.

Driven by a passion for preventing violence and tackling inequality, Madeleine has led the development of innovative programmes that place the safety of women and girls at their heart. Through self-defence training, healthy relationship education, bystander intervention, youth empowerment, trauma-informed practice, and community engagement, Blossom equips people with the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills to stay safe, build resilience, and thrive.

Our approach is different.

Under Madeleine’s leadership, Blossom has built a reputation for delivering impactful programmes across schools, communities, businesses, and public sector organisations. Working in partnership with local authorities, police, health services, education providers, and voluntary organisations, Blossom champions prevention over crisis response, ensuring that lived experience shapes meaningful and lasting change.

Madeleine believes that wellbeing and safety go hand in hand. Her work is centred on creating environments where people feel seen, heard, valued, and empowered to reach their full potential. She is particularly passionate about amplifying the voices of women, girls, and young people, ensuring they play an active role in shaping safer communities.

Madeleine has recently joined Empower Wellbeing CIC as a Non-Executive Director, bringing strategic leadership, governance experience, and a strong commitment to community impact.
